Taking Location Intelligence Beyond Healthcare

Navv Systems originated at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, where our co-founders conceptualized innovative uses for iOS device location data. They developed methods to harness this data to track the movement of people and devices within the building and monitor task execution. This foundational idea led to the creation of Navv Systems, aimed at enhancing operational efficiency through indoor location intelligence.

Location intelligence was used to understand workflows like patient transport, where the logistics of getting patients where they need to be for surgery, imaging, or discharge is vitally important. We've even used indoor mapping and location verification to support specimen collection workflows, ensuring everything has been picked up and delivered to the lab. Any delay or break in these workflows can be detrimental to a patient or the chain of events that happens when someone is or is NOT where they are supposed to be.

At the foundation of all these amazing ideas are iOS devices–iPads and iPhones running the NavvTrack app. By harnessing Apple's precise location data, the app helps ensure devices are not lost, are available to help front-line workers access patient information, and provide care teams access to communication tools.

While this has been incredibly interesting, we’ve been contacted by a variety of different industries who are looking to solve similar issues with understanding the where behind people, places and things. This same framework applies to K-12 education and college campuses who that run their own operations and function as small cities. We have heard from the airline industry on being able to know where flight-ready iPads are, and how to ensure traveler assistance can be optimized. Interest in manufacturing facilities trying to keep track of devices and products throughout warehouses, which happens to be very similar to the case we discussed in retail operations.

It has been exciting to see and hear the different use cases people have for NavvTrack, and how we can help them discover what’s indoors. If you have an interesting use case or want to discuss how to get more out of your investment in iOS devices, contact us to set up a call. We’re always happy to have exploratory conversations and talk about what’s happening within the great indoors.
